Description: Charleston, SC CDS NOV 12, 1861 with matching "PAID 5" Type E handstamp on buff cover addressed to Mesr JW Bomar & Co, Bivingsville NC with docketing on reverse from sender "LM Hatch, Charleston". John Bomar (1795-1868) was the principal owner of a cotton mill which he and associates purchased in 1856. Interestingly, the mill was located in Bivingsville (later Glendale), South Carolina. The cover is clearly addressed to "NC" which appears to be an error. Extremely Fine appearance with rough edge at top where opened. Bold strikes of postmark and paid markings.
