Unreleased recordings from WA famous pianist Ahmad Jamal from 1966 to 1968 in Seattle are now available! A work from the new label ``Jazz Detective'' launched in 2022 by Zev Feldman, known as the Indiana Jones of the jazz world, a masterpiece excavator who works for Resonance Records, Blue Note Records, etc. Ahmad Jamal, born in 1930, was one of the true masters of jazz piano, and sadly passed away in April 2023. There is a famous story about him being a pianist who even fascinated Miles Davis. Vol. 1 was recorded in 1963-1964, and Vol. 2 was recorded in 1965-1966 at Seattle's Penthouse Jazz Club, and was released on Black Friday in 2022 and received favorable reviews. Volume 3 of this work was discovered from a series of sound sources broadcast live on the KING-FM program hosted by Jim Wilke between 1966 and 1968. The club's owner at the time, Charlie Puzzo Sr., provided all of the recording equipment in his shop, making it possible to make such wonderful records. Charlie Puzzo's son, Charlie Puzzo Jr., inherited his father's will and devoted his passion to managing the huge tape archive left behind at the store. A rare recording of the song was discovered by Zev Feldman and brought to light of day. Jamal first set foot in Seattle's Penthouse Jazz Club in 1963 and became a regular performer at the club. This work was produced by a trio featuring bassist Jamil Nassar and drummer Frank Gant from 1966-88. In front of an audience that evokes the atmosphere of a club at the time, you can enjoy Jamal's unique piano touch as he performs familiar standards such as "Misty," "Autumn Leaves," and "Alfie." Mastered from original analog tape by master engineer Bernie Grundman. Contains comments, interviews, and rare photos by Les McCann, Emmett Cohen, Monty Alexander, and others.
