Description: This listing is for a new Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series Tactical Strike McDonnell Douglas AH-6J Little Bird Die-cast Model US Army. This model was heavily weathered by the factory. This model comes with the original box, and a clear display stand is included. Note: This model has a slightly curve right hand side skid to a small degree. Please see the last 3 photos for the slightly curve inward right-hand side skid. The outer box has some shop wares and small tears at the opening flaps, but the model is still wrapped in its original wires. The model shows on these pictures belongs to my collection. Scale: 1/64 Length: 5.75" Width: 5" (wings span) A direct descendant of the OH-6 Cayuse light scout and utility helicopter of the Vietnam Was, the AH/MH-6s currently in service with the US Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) have seen much combat in various actions across the globe. Known to SOAR crews as the "Little Bird," the H-6 was originally chosen for special operations work in the wake of the failed US Embassy hostage rescue attempt in Iran in 1980. With its powerful engines, five-bladed main rotors and T-shaped tail, the MH-6 can carry up to eight soldiers outside the aircraft on a specially fitted plank seat which can be folded in and out of the helicopter in seconds. The AH-6 is configured near-identically to the unarmed MH-6, but with weapons installed on a special plank instead of seats. The helicopter can carry a multitude of ordnance, includingGatling guns, podded rocket launchers, AGM-114 Hellfire Missiles, 0.50 cal heavy machine guns and grenade launchers. The US Army is presently in the process of upgrading all 36 of its "Little Birds" to a common AH/MH-6J specification. These helicopters feature an upgraded engine and transmission, a six-bladed main rotor, canted four-bladed rotor (the latter for increased control and decreased noise), strengthened landing gear, improved avionics, extra cockpit and fuel cell armor and a crash-proof fuel system. McDonnell Douglas AH-6J Little Bird designed to meet a US Army requirement for a light observation helicopter, the prototype YOH-6 (originally designed and built by Hughes) was first flown on February 27th, 1963. Corgi "Aviation Archive" die-cast airplanes feature: Die-cast metal construction with some plastic components Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels, and surface details Pad printed markings and placards that won't fade or peel like decals Pose-able presentation stands to display the aircraft "in flight" Authentic detachable ordnance loads complete with placards
