Description: A rare petite cornucopia vase designed by Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte in Murano, circa 1939. Rosso Oro Pulegoso, Model #5440 - mould-blown, subsequently free-formed cornucoppia in multi-layered glass. Reference: Marc Heiremans book 'Seguso Vetri D'Arte Glass Objects From Murano 1932 - 1973' (Pg. 94); also documented in the Seguso Vetri d'Arte archives with a production date of 1939. The Seguso family name first appeared in the history of Murano glassmaking in the late 14th century. The foundation of Seguso Vetri d'Arte in 1933 was another milestone in the family's contribution to the legend of Murano, this time for its stunning evolution of 20th Century design and glassmaking techniques DETAIL AND CONDITION It is 12cm tall. There are no surface scratches, pits, cracks or chips. It is a small but complex piece incorporating several innovative techniques for its time. The base pontil mark is rough with sharp edges and there is also a hidden rough edge on the lip of the base where it was joined to the body of the vase - likely from manufacture. (This is a protected point and there are no other marks on the body that suggest an impact of any sort.)
