Description: We are offering a program for the Dedication Ceremony of The Coventry Soldiers Monument on August 14, 1912, that was erected in the town of Coventry, Vermont. (6" X 9"; 11 pages) The monument was in honor of Coventry soldiers who participated in the Civil War, Revolutionary War, War of 1812 and the Spanish-American War, serving as a tribute to the Loyal Sons of Coventry. The monument was erected and presented to the town of Coventry by Civil War Captain Riley E. Wright, Co. H (Frontier Guards), 15th Vermont Volunteers, organized at Coventry. Attached tissue paper at the front of the program reads, "Compliments of Riley E. Wright". There is also a picture of Captain Riley E. Wright. The program lists the names of 125 Coventry soldiers of the Civil War; the names of three Coventry citizens who served in the Revolutionary War; seven who served in the War of 1812; and four who served in the Spanish-American War. The program also gives a detailed description of the monument, eight patriotic inscriptions on the monument, the medallion portraits of Lincoln, Grant, Dewey and Stannard. Also, on the monument is the G.A.R. Badge, Crossed Swords, Crossed Muskets, and Crossed Cannons.
