The TEACHER'S EDITION of the CVC Storybooks Curriculum is intended for use by teachers, primarily kindergarten teachers and reading intervention teachers, who photocopy and assemble the minibooks into class sets (6 - 30 copies of each story). Teachers use these class sets to teach blending skills to groups of beginning readers. The Teacher's Edition however may not be the best choice for parents to buy and assemble at home for their own children. Unless you are handy with that kind of thing and enjoy it. My Student Workbook Editions, however, will be published soon on Amazon. The Look Inside feature will allow many of the stories to be previewed in full and in sequential order before purchase, unlike with the Teacher's Edition, where the page order appears to be mixed up, as it is governed by the need to assemble the books into booklets. It is difficult to read the stories in the Teacher's Edition unless they are assembled. The Student Workbook Editions do not require any assembly and are intended to be used in classrooms and for home schooling and family learning environments. They are coming soon. ABOUT THE STORIES. These are simple slice-of-life stories, vignettes really, about shopping with mom, playing at the beach, family camping, a day at school, sports, swimming, children's games, caring for a pet dog, being sick, rainy days, going to the fair, friends coming over to play. They are stories of the imagination, about digging up dinosaur bones, deep sea diving, flying on a magic carpet, meeting a mermaid, and more. These stories are very simple. And engaging. I love my little the stories and the children I teach love them too. I am sorry that you had such a negative reaction, and I feel bad about that, but the main purpose of this series is to offer classroom teachers an instructional tool in book format to teach CVC decoding, to be used in addition to other resources as flashcards, writing CVC words, word-attack activities, decifering word lists etc.... There are 45 stories in the series and in a best case scenario I would like for them to be judged as a series. In any case, students want to read the words because they want to find out more about what is happening in the stories.
