Description: Cypraeidae Naria Spurca - "Dirty Cowry" - #1Name: Cypraeidae Naria SpurcaAuthor: Monterosato, 1897Common Name: Dirty CowrySizes: 32.77 mm Locality: Haifa (Israel) - Mediterranean Sea)Origins: Collected live – April 1977. Acquired via trade with John Whitcher (Western Australia) – Apr 1978. These specimens were part of Kurt Giesel’s (Israel) private collection. Note: The original data documentation indicated Spurca form Pallida (rare) back in 1977. A recent reverification with Dr. Chong Chen (Biologist) confirmed no such form “Pallida” exists. This is part of our late father's large collection of seashells he obtained while stationed on Okinawa, Japan in 1974-1978. He was an avid scuba diver and seashell collector. His interests in shells grew from more than the Indo-Pacific species when he engaged in trading his shells with some of the prominent collectors around the world. The stunning patterns and colors of these shells make it a must-have for any serious collector.
