Original photographically illustrated wrappers. Dedicated to his father, the photographer, Maurice Seymour. This personal photo autobiography was the first book by Lustrum Press. Founded by Ralph Gibson and funded in part by Daniel Seymour, Lustrum published the first U.S. edition of Robert Frank's The Lines of My Hand and Tulsa by Larry Clark. A Loud Song was a landmark book in the new personal documentary style. Tulsa, The Lines of My Hand, Vagabond by Gaylord Herron, Danny Lyon's Paper Negative and Bill Burke's books all owe something to A Loud Song. Seymour was a friend and neighbor of Robert Frank on the Bowery in New York City. They worked together on a number of projects. The last being Frank's film on the Rolling Stones: CS Blues. Shortly after the filming was done Seymour was killed on a sail boat in the Caribbean. Listed in The Open Book, A History of the Photographic Book from 1878 to the present. Good plus.
