Daredevil #38 (1968) Dr Doom & DD swap bodies, FF appear; Lee & Colan; solid VG+

Description: By the time of issue #38, in early 1968, Stan Lee and Gene Colan were at their peak on Daredevil, and here they had Dr. Doom mind-swapped into the body of DD (long before Dan Slott had Doc Ock do so with Spidey!) while poor old Matt was trapped in the body of Doom! I confess this was one of my favourite DD stories of the period, helped by the fact that the FF also get a cameo, setting up the story conclusion in FF #73. The book is solid and complete, and, with no major cover defect to detract from the striking image, it retains good eye-appeal. There has been little loss of reflectivity (Marvel books of this time were less glossy than DC) and colours remain rich. Cover and off-white pages are all fully secure to rust-free original staples. The spine is unsplit. This is better than simply a gap-filling reading copy, but there are obvious defects from handling and storage, which mark this as an oft-read copy from a time before comics were handled with the care they are by collectors today! Defects consist of:* wear down left of the book adjacent the spine, which has produced multiple vertical hairlines of colour-break* moderate spine-stresses with obvious colour-breaks* other light wear around the edges of the book, with occasional hairline colour-breaks* faint hairline colour-break lines across bottom right corner* a small circular mark and colour-fade in the pale red area above the letter 'O' of 'prison', perhaps as a result of something having splashed or stuck to the book* light foxing at base of first and last page and inside front and back cover* a spine-roll of up to 4mm, so pages protrude beyond the edges of the back cover* red biro ticks on the checklist page from my 9 year old self to show how many 'Marvels' I had already bought that month!* Similarly, top left of the inside back cover, is an inked 'CW' to denote my ownership and ensure I got the book back if loaned to a friend!* 2 flattened diagonal crease lines running from bottom right of the back cover to the top left* back cover has some disoloration from being in a stack and rubbing against a book beneath it in a stack Despite the above, overall, the book comfortably exceeds the defects allowed in Overstreet criteria for VG and has virtues beyond VG. I would therefore consider this book to be VG+ (4.5), but you are invited to arrive at your own assessment based on these notes and the pictures uploaded. This comic will be dispatched backed and bagged, securely packed in a sturdy bookmailer (not bubble-wrap or A4 envelope!) to see it reaches you in the same condition it leaves me! I use Royal Mail rather than Evri, Yodel, UPS or DHL. I've been collecting comics for over 50 years. In that time I've upgraded much of my collection, resulting in extra copies of many issues. In addition, there are series' I have collected which I don't feel the need to take to the grave! I am therefore seeking to reduce the size of my collection by selling off my duplicates and items no longer of interest.
