Description: DAS Comanche Moon MarbleCollector SeriesRadioactive Gold Chain PinkyMINT-Run Date: 2/14/18 This DAS Comanche Moon run is one of the most interesting DAS marble runs since the inception of the company for a number of reasons. The translucent base glass is a unique crystal glass that had some type of tiny particles inside. These particles were not gold lutz, aventurine, mica or anything like that. It's a bit hard to describe, but it reminds me of outer space pictures that show billions of stars with star dust consistency. The coolest part of this base glass is that it is super fluorescent when irradiated with a UV light source (i.e. black light flashlight from Amazon). For more details on the UV sensitivity, read the next paragraph. This particular marble has some very beautiful UV reactive glass and glows brightly green when exposed to a blacklight flashlight. This indicates the use of Vaseline or Burmese glass. Here's something pretty cool that you can do to entertain yourself on those rainy days...if you shine a blacklight flashlight (easy to find on Amazon) onto this marble, then you will see the bright glow of the glass as shown in the photos. This type of glass is called Fluorescent. FYI...Fluorescence is the emission of light by a substance that has absorbed light or other electromagnetic radiation. It is a form of luminescence. In most cases, the emitted light has a longer wavelength, and therefore a lower photon energy, than the absorbed radiation...in case you are curious... :-) So, since we have a glower, we can use assign the "radioactive" description, albeit an informal nomenclature adopted loosely. Please don't worry about any dangerous radiation...no gamma rays involved! :-) A big collectable aspect of this marble is the gold lutz chain that can be seen in the first picture. These gold chain marbles are hard to find on eBay for sure, much less anywhere else. If you combine the radioactive nature plus this gold chain, you have a keeper marble for your vault for sure. I use a Canon Rebel DSLR camera with flash to shown as much of the fine details as possible. I try to rotate the marble to give multiple views. This marble was manufactured using the 3/4" machine and the size of this particular marble is a healthy sized 0.759" in diameter as measured by electronic calipers. Note: the downgrade from a perfectly mint marble is due to a very slight "as-made" crease due to a cold roll. I tried to capture this in one of the pictures, but it was too small to capture. You might not notice this unless it was brought to your attention, but it is always my policy to disclose everything to avoid any surprises.
