Description: This is a nice, original December 1905 complete issue of The Century Magazine Vol 71 No 2. Excellent period advertising! Christmas issue, with Alfred Domett's "A Christmas Hymn" illustrated with four color plates by J.C. Leyendecker. Scarce original prints in unusually fine condition. Leyendecker, who had an association with Century that began when he bested Maxfield Parrish in a poster contest run by Century in 1896, was a leading American image-maker in the early to mid- 20th century. The plates shown here are among his most important early magazine work. Measures 7" x 10" There is some mild surface discoloration and some wear at edges, a couple scuffs on front cover; tiny tears to spine, covers, and pages. Overall a very nice example of this work ! Please study photos and Email with any question. A great addition to any collection!
