Description: The Kaiser Wilhelm Bridge in Wilhelmshaven is an axially symmetrical, double-winged road swing bridge made of riveted steel truss. It is the landmark of the city. It has a length of 521 ft. and width of 26 ft. It weighs 440 tons. The two supports are about 78 ft high. It crosses the connecting port and serves as a connecting piece between the Sudstadt and the Sudtrand as well as the southern port facilities. It was built between 1905 and 1907 as the largest swing bridge in Germany. The inauguration took place on August 29, 1907. Wilhelmshaven is a city in northwestern Germany, located the northwest coast of the Jade Bight, a bay on the North Sea. The medium-sized town has 76,089 inhabitants and is a regional center.
