Description: I found this on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay in 1975. I have hunted fossils and arrowheads since the early 1960's.whereever I have been located. This is a cross section of bone showing the fossilized marrow and bone sheath. It very much looks like the end of a joint socket and it is encased in a brown obsidian matrix. The last time there were volcanoes on the Atlantic coast was 200 million years ago when Pangea was breaking apart. The larger vertebrates that were around were amphibians and smaller early dinosaurs. I have studied this little nugget for 49 years and I think it was an amazing chance find. A solid piece.
