This FANTASIA STORE was only there during the re-release of the Movie. We purchased one set of Fantasia pieces and then liked them so much we returned for a few extras the following day since they were so delicate. We have displayed one entire set for years and are now parting with our duplicates. This Fantasia Madame Upanova Ostrich Is In Excellent Condition With No Chips, Cracks Or Breaks And Marked © Walt Disney Prod. On The Bottom. Madame Upanova is certainly delicate and painted with an expressive face. This piece has been in storage since purchased in 1982 and shows no signs crazing! Historically, Hagen Renaker originally produced delightful miniature ceramics under a one year exclusive license with Walt Disney Productions that was signed on July 25, 1955, just 8 days after Disneyland opened its front gates. Hagen Renaker continued to renew their contract on a yearly basis only until 1961. Walt Disney himself personally labeled the Hagen Renaker ceramic representations of his animated characters as "the finest three dimensional re-productions of Disney character drawings that he ever saw”. The first Hagen Renaker Disney miniature set ever sold at Disneyland was created to promote the 1955 CinemaScope Walt Disney Film Lady and the Tramp. These first canine figures featured Lady, Tramp, Jock, Trusty, Dachsie, Pedro, the Siamese Cats, Si & Am and the Pups. These petite, intricate & delicate creations could be found on Disneyland’s Main Street in the large turn of the century Emporium Store, along with the China Shop on Main Street, and at the Art Corner in Tomorrowland. In 1956 a separate division devoted to larger ceramics was created entitled Designer's Workshop. The department created larger figures, cookie jars and banks generally six inches or larger. Figures featured Bambi, Jimmy Cricket, Figaro, Dumbo, and Snow White. Jars were created for Dumbo, Figaro Thumper and Practical Pig. Banks were representations of Thumper, Dumbo, Figaro, and Lady. Also in 1956, additional miniature characters from Alice in Wonderland, Bambi, Cinderella, Dumbo, Bandleader Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Scrooge, Chip & Dale and Donald’s Nephews were introduced. In 1957, Peter Pan and Fantasia miniature figures were added. 1958 saw Snow White & her Seven Dwarfs arrive and in 1959 the beautiful Sleeping Beauty set completed the ceramic line. It was a total surprise when Disney and Hagen Renaker again produced these stunning Fantasia figures in 1982! This Delightful Hagen Renaker 1982 Fantasia “Ostrich” Is Now 40 Years Old! Disney Hagen Renaker ceramics were always produced with the best possible materials and their quality control was evident. The detail and expressions of each character is precise.
