Description: Dominique Dawes and Dot Richardson - Signed '96 Olympics Original Crewneck. Size is Medium. This fades a ton in the sun or light and has faded a ton already but the marker used for the top signatures was always faint due to the pen or sharpie or marker that was used at the time. They signed this twice (both of them). Some stains and imperfections due to storage along with dust and environmental patina. Overall, remained nice for age minus the faded signatures but regardless this vintage original crew is a rare and super cool find! Dominique Dawes is a celebrated American gymnast who was a key member of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, famously known as the “Magnificent Seven,” which won the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She was the first African American woman to win an individual Olympic medal in gymnastics, earning a bronze in the floor exercise. Dawes is known for her powerful performances, consistency, and contributions to the sport, inspiring countless young gymnasts. Dot Richardson is a former American softball player who also made a significant mark at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. She was the shortstop for the U.S. women’s softball team, which won the gold medal in the first-ever Olympic softball competition. Richardson is not only known for her athletic prowess but also for her career in medicine; she became an orthopedic surgeon. Her role in the Olympics helped elevate the profile of softball and inspired many young athletes in the sport. The 1996 Summer Olympics were particularly historic for the United States. The event marked the centennial of the modern Olympic Games and featured a wide range of sports and memorable moments, including the U.S. women’s gymnastics team's triumph and the debut of softball as an Olympic sport. The Atlanta Games were also known for their significant commercial success and the spirit of celebrating a century of the Olympic movement. This original crewneck from the 1996 Olympics holds nostalgic value for sports fans, especially those who followed the Games closely. While the signatures of Dominique Dawes and Dot Richardson are faded, the crewneck remains a unique piece of Olympic memorabilia. It not only represents the achievements of two remarkable athletes but also serves as a memento from a landmark event in Olympic history. The crewneck could appeal to collectors, fans of the athletes, or anyone with an interest in Olympic history.
