Description: This is a rare April 6th, 1931 "Plays and Players" combined playbill from the Post-Broadway engagement of the GEORGE KELLY comedy "PHILIP GOES FORTH" at the Broad Street Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (The Original Broadway production opened January 12th, 1931 at New York's Biltmore Theatre and ran for 97 performances before going on the road.) ..... The play starred HARRY ELLERBE as "Philip", THAIS LAWTON as "Mrs. Randolph" and DOROTHY STICKNEY as "Miss Krail" and featured DONNA PASDELOUP, CORA WITHERSPOON, THURSTON HALL, MADGE EVANS, HAROLD WEBSTER, HARRY GRESHAM, MARY GILDEA, MARION BARNEY and RALPH URMY ..... CREDITS: Book by GEORGE KELLY; Sets designed by HENRY DREYFUSS; Directed by GEORGE KELLY; Produced by LAURENCE RIVERS ..... DETAILS: The twenty page playbill measures 6" X 9 1/4" inches and includes full production credits, cast lists, synopsis of scenes, list of musical numbers and wonderful vintage advertising, but no cast photos or bios ..... CONDITION: With the exception of a vertical fold, a minor corner crease and moderate edge wear, this rare playbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian.
