Many deer hunters are unaware that Dr. Nordberg's early writings persuaded many hunters to hunt from tree stands. This was a big change in deer hunting back then because most hunters just did drives or wandered around the woods. This book came out years later and persuaded hunters to get out of their trees and hunt using stools at planned ground sites. If you hunt with drives, wander around, or just sit in tree stands, and would like to improve your success, you should try Mobile Stand Hunting. This is a great method to add to your hunting arsenal. Dr. Nordberg also defined the phases of the Rut. If you have ever heard of Rut Phases, it is because of Dr. Nordberg. While the best description of the rut is in his 1st edition, it is out of print at present, this book has a short section summarizing the phases of the rut. This last fall, I read an article by another outdoor writer who used my father's descriptions of the rut, but changed the names slightly, and did not even bother to reference my father's work. Some of the text came out of his books almost word-for-word. I can not believe his editor let him get away with it -- purely shameful! You might as well get this info from the man who actually did the original research and published it first, rather than writers who worded his work in a different way.
