Fantastic example of a very rare ceramic cookie jar / bust of the historic civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This beautifully made piece was produced as a limited edition of 500 jars in the late 1990's. 250 of the jars were purchased by the NAACP, and the other 250 were released to be sold to the general public. This is jar #436, and is overall excellent / exceptional condition. It comes to eBay from a Portland, Oregon-area Community Leader's Estate where it has been in a display or in storage since purchased new from The New Rose Collection manufacturer in about 1998-1999. This particular example has the "mother of pearl" painted accent color on his shirt.
