Description: 'DREAMGIRLS"- 2 VINTAGE PROGRAM BOOKS. The Official Program Portfolio from 1981---includes a large folded poster, postcards and many pictures from the original Broadway production. The second program is from the Los Angeles Tour, performed at the Schubert Theater in 1983. Both of these programs are in excellent CONDITION. They will be protected in a bubble-wrap envelope and shipped via USPS Parcel Select Ground. Over the course of it's existence, the production of Dreamgirls has played thoroughout the world. From Broadway and multiple tours, the musical was made into a film in 2006. It follows the story of a young female singing trio from Chicago, who eventually became superstars with their musical act. It originally starred Jennifer Holiday, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Loretta Devine, among others. The production opened on Broadway in 1981 at the Imperial Theater and was nominated for 13 Tony Awards, winning six. Holiday's impressive recording of "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" was the #1 single on the Billboard charts in 1982. The Broadway Cast recording was awarded with two Grammys. For the movie version, Jennifer Hudson's rendition of the same song--and her moving performance---won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2007.
