It plays exactly the same as when it was built. *Different from the 1219 the 1229 has a strobe light which you used to check your album speed and adjust using the pitch-control knob for fine-speed adjustments for all 3 speeds and permits a platter speed variation of 6% *The very rare probably 50 year old Dual Walnut Lunch Box is in nearly mint condition. It has been refinished and touched up with some gold . A new plexiglass top has been put onto it. Together with the table it all looks very new. *It has the best of everything that Dual ever produced and some label it as one of the best turntables of all time. Dual 1229 Model # 030254 *A special component is the highly rated Shure V15 TYPE 111 Cartridge with a Shure VN35E Stylus and flip-down needle guard. It has a new Dual slim sides TK 126 headshell. This combination is considered the best for this table. Giving it a great sound. This alone is a $350 value. *This precision German made machine weighs 21 lbs with 281 moving parts ( including microscopic wires) that all have to work precisely together. *The beauty of this Dual 1229 is unlike other turntables as this specific table (with rebuilt gyroscope gimbal) has been designed to continuously play 33’s & 45’s and automatically shut off. *It also plays single mode for 78’s so the tonearm is parallel to the album. *The tonearm has been vertically balance set, leveled, cued, azimuth set, speed tested, anti skating set and everything completely degreased and lubricated. *This heavy non-magnetic, dynamically balanced 12” platter was designed for a low level vibrations. *The extra long 8.75” tonearm was also designed for a solid turntable with excellent sound output. *If you’re not interested in a multi play TT you don’t need to buy this. There are single play TT from $100-$4,000. This table will sound as good as any of them. *A German made Workhorse that is impossible to reproduce and good for at least another 20 years. It’s a collector’s item and will always be going up in value. *You will see the same TT from $300 up and advertised as works. That doesn’t mean everything works. You don’t want to buy a broken Dual. *I give my phone # for every purchase to help set it up and there are Always problems from being thrown around. Which are minor.
