Description: This listing is for an awesome DVD of the 2002 NCAA men's basketball Regional Semi-final game between the Duke Blue Devils and the Indiana Hoosiers. Duke was not only the top-ranked team in the country and the tourney's overall #1 seed, they were also the defending national champions and sported THREE All-Americans! Indiana was the #5 seed, and a heavy underdog. At the 8:39 mark of the first half, Indiana had the same number of turnovers as shot attempts - 12 - and Duke led 29-12! But with 10:30 left in the game, Duke All-American Jay Williams missed an open layup with Duke leading 59-47, and the Duke collapse had begun. Duke would miss 15 of their last 20 shots and be outscored by the Hoosiers 27-14 the rest of the way. The last minute of the game would be one of THE most hectic & memorable finishes in NCAA Tournament history! IU guard Tom Coverdale, playing on a severely sprained ankle, hit a jumper with 1:01 left to give Indiana its FIRST lead of the game 72-70, and momentum was on the Hoosiers sideline! After an IU defensive stop, A.J. Moye hit 2 clutch free throws with only 11 seconds remaining to seemingly ice the game for Indiana 74-70. Then the unthinkable happened. After a missed 3-pointer is swatted out to Duke's Williams, he was inexplicably fouled by IU's Dane Fife while making a 3-pointer with 4.2 seconds left. Suddenly it's 74-73, Duke trailing by 1, and at the free throw line with a chance to tie and send the game into overtime! Now momentum is with Duke! The All-American Williams then unbelievably misses the free throw, but Duke All-American Carlos Boozer rebounds the miss, then inexplicably misses a point-blank follow shot for a Duke win as time expires! Game over. Indiana 74 Duke 73. Duke, Rupp Arena, Coach K, and the entire college basketball world are stunned! Hoosier Nation and the large boisterous IU crowd at Lexington's Rupp Arena go crazy! The Hoosiers would defeat Kent State in the Regional Final, then Oklahoma (coached by Kelvin Sampson...blech!) in the National Semi-final on to their way to the NCAA title game before falling to Maryland (another IU BB DVD that I currently have listed for sale separately). Truely a game for the ages!
