Description: I recently purchased a large collection of late 1700's and early 1800's porcelain from a prolific, affluent serious collector. Most items have printed titles or mottos. Everything is in outstanding condition and there are many rare and unusual pieces. Please see my other others -- as always, combined purchased charged only actual shipping. Antique early 1800’s Staffordshire Transferware. Black transferware central motif surrounded by embossed alphabet rim. No maker’s hallmarks. The transfer and embossing has been over-painted by hand ("clobbering"). Central motif shows two young men in arms. Printed titles read "Let Brotherly Love Continue". This is from bible verse Hebrrews 13:1-6. Plates like this were made as gifts for good children and rewards of merit, used to aid in childrens education and moral training, and to encourage their young imaginations. Condition: VVery good giftable condition. This plate is in fabulous condition for its age. I see two areas of glaze losses on top rim edge (see photos #11 & #12). There is some excess paint over the "M" as shown in last photo -- I was able to scratch a bit off with my fingernail, so I don't think it is permanent. Crazing with mottled background discoloration. Transfer and over-painting intact without erosion or damage. No other chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo's. Don't feel anything amiss when I run finger around edges. No evidence of prior repairs or restoration.Dimensions: 6” diameter x 7/8” profile depth. Unpacked weight 6.1 oz. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. All dimensions and weights approximate. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase.Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
