Description: Early View-Master Original (proper) Large Lens Model 'A' Viewer in parquet wood grain design decorated Library Box- 1940 - vintage Very soon (6 months) after the delicate first View-Master viewers were made, Sawyer's, the producers of the View-Master product realized that the "tenite" plastic viewers were rapidly warping badly. Immediately, a slight redesign (strengthening the structural ribbing was t ried = version #2), and a new box was introduced - the View-Master Library box. Unfortunately, the viewers still warped. All of the Model A viewers have some degree of warpage. Very few of them actually pass a reel cleanly around in the viewer. Being a classic toy, the Model A's are cherished as a display treasure rather than useful or practical View-Master viewer NOTE: Two more versions of the Model A were tried, none successfully, until the unveiling of the bakelite Model B - But that's another story. and if you wish, check out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenite. Offered here is the early View-Master parquet wood grain finish Library Box with its original (proper) large lens Model A viewer with quit minimal warping. Condition: As stated the version #2 Model A large lens viewer has only minimal warping - and the parquet wood grain decorated library box is in fine shape, cosmetically and structurally.
