He appeared in 388, directed 153, wrote for 93, and produced 40 films between 1911 and 1926. He was born in Beardstown, Illinois, and died in Pasadena, California. Lyons was paired with actor Lee Moran got a decade making silentl comedic short films together. Lyons started in vaudeville and acted in stock theater companies in Chicago before he began acting in films. He worked for the Nestor Film Company, first as an actor and then as director of one of the company's units. His brother, Harry Lyons, also was an actor. Lyons married actress Virginia Kirtley in 1916, and they had a daughter, Frances Lyons, who was an actress. On August 30, 1926, Lyons died in the Bishop Sanitarium in Pasadena, California, aged 40. Lee Moran (1888 – 1961) was a comedy actor, film director, and screenwriter.Moran was active in vaudeville before he began performing in films at Nestor Studios in 1909, where he was quickly teamed with Lyons, his partner for a decade. Moran transcended the silent film era on into the talkies. He appeared in more than 460 films, directed 109 and wrote for 92 between 1912 and 1935. Moran retired from films in 1936. Moran's wife, Esther, sued him for divorce, but her attorneys asked that the suit be dismissed in September 1922. The couple agreed to an out-of-court settlement.He died from a heart ailment on April 24, 1961, in Woodland Hills, California. He is buried in San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
