DRESSING BOX WITH EASEL MIRROR LOCK STAMPED J.T NEEDS 100 NEW BOND STREET / LATE J BRAMAH 124 PICCADILLY (WHICH MAY BE A REPLACEMENT ??) This box is being sold as photographed, is a little dusty / 'grubby' and would benefit from some attention. I have suggested that it may have been a gentleman's box at one time, as there is what appears to be an old strop in it, but it would make a lovely jewellery box or similar, complete with a mirror. It measures 30.5cm / 12 1/2" wide, 18cm / 7 1/8" deep and stands 11.5 cm / 4 1/2" high (approx). I do think that someone may have attempted to do some sort of 'restoration' in the past. The external covering is quite shiny, with some of the loss of covering appears to have been 'disguised' in places. I am selling some other boxes, so please take a look at my other listings. The ruler and cotton reel are not part of the listing, but there just to give an idea as to size. The photos were taken on a couple of different days, both inside in natural light (with one outside), on a fairly dull day, but please be aware that colours will vary according to personal settings. Condition: This empty box is in well used / antique condition and being sold as photographed / as found. Sadly, it is missing its key, there is damage to the lock (WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN REPLACED ?? AS INTERNAL COVERING OVER LOCK HAS BEEN TORN / POORLY STUCK DOWN), evidence on the front of the box that it may been forced in the past and the lid does not close completely down. Imperfections also include damage / wear / losses / splits / lifting of surface covering, scratches, knocks, dents, marks, gouges, discolouration and scuffs. The fabric covering the mirror has marks / staining and the mirror itself has some deterioration to the backing. The catch securing the mirror appears to have been replaced. There are some internal partition supports missing and some which do move. For accuracy, the box does have a slight 'vintage' smell, as you would expect with such an item. I have taken a number of photos which, in addition to forming part of the description, are there to allow potential bidders the opportunity to make their own assessment. This box is in antique condition with imperfections commensurate with age / use / storage, so please take time to read the condition description / Seller Notes above, in addition to viewing the images, before bidding.
