Description: This is a unique, hand made, basket weave, end grain cutting board orcharcuterie board. This cutting/charcuterie board is made in the USAin our workshop in rural PA. It is made of hard maple and purpleheart. The board is 12.2" x 10.5 and ___" thick. It weighs 4.12lbsand feels solid and durable. The top is sanded to 220 grit and issmooth to the touch. The board is protected with butcher's block oiland is completely safe. This board is not a chopping block. Do not usethis for chopping.The pattern is a unique basket weave. The white part is made of hardmaple and the purple part is made of purple heart. The wood is notdyed or stained. This pattern gives the board a unique look that youcan't find anywhere else. The board is an end grain board which issuperior to a face grain cutting board. End grain wood is firmer andmore durable than face grain or edge grain wood. End grain cuttingboards are good for keeping knives sharp longer because the knifeblade moves apart the wood grains and doesn't cut the wood grains.With proper care thiscutting board can last a lifetime. Even if the face is chewed up, itcan be resurfaced to expose a new face just as durable and nice as theold one. This piece can be an heirloom piece with proper care.Maintenance for this cutting board is quick and simple. To maintainthe look and feel of this board, gently wash with water and wipe dryafter each use. Once a year, reapply a coat of mineral oil orbutcher's block oil. It'll be good as new.Note: The board might not be completely level when you receive it.This is due to the change in moisture and temperature that causes thewood to expand and contract. This is perfectly normal. Let the boardsit in your environment for a few days then take a phillips headscrewdriver and adjust the rubber feet to level it.
