The Escarlate is the Red Hybrid jaboticaba backcrossed to the white jaboticaba (Plinia aureana). This makes for a very fast fruiting plant. Can fruit in 3-4 years, as opposed to 6-8 years for regular jaboticaba. Great tasting, sweet and dwarfing habit. Escarlate jaboticaba can be grown in a pot for many years. Escarlate can be hard to grow because they are having issues with chlorotic leaves and burnt leaf tips, so usually require amendments to lower the pH or drenches with chelated Iron.
