Center of the tray features the Candy Bros. Fruit Juice Tablets ! This is an extremely rare serving tray made by the Candy Bros. Manufacturing Company based in St. Louis, Missouri. The tray is advertising their Fruit Tablets. Dating on this tray is between 1870-1889 The Candy Bros. Mfg. was a family confectioner company started in the 1870’s by brothers Robert, Thomas and Sydney Candy. They were known for their vitamin tablets, butter cups and cough drops. Their fruit tablets came in 4lb glass jars and were in very unusual flavors - Barley Sugar, Blood Orange, Iceland Moss, Honey Coconut, Rock & Rye and Red Current Drops. Ahead of their time with unique flavors! Tray was produced for the Candy Bros. by Henry Beach out of Ohio.The tray includes this mark at the front base. Henry Beach produced lithographic signs & novelties and was based out of Coshocton, Ohio This is one of the advertising pieces he produced for the Candy Bros. late 1899-1901 Today you can find Candy Bros. glass confectioner bottles with the company’s embossed name which are also sought by antique advertising collectors - however the tray is very rare and a collectors dream! This is a beautiful piece of antique advertising! This tray is rich with beautiful coloring - it really is a unique and gorgeous tray! Excellent color and graphics and beautiful overall condition (C. 8.5) w/ a little minor rim chipping, small scratches across the front. scratches across the back from normal usage. All of the imperfections are commensurate with the age of this tray and do not deflect or impact the graphics or overall beauty of this vibrant tray!
