Burial will be following the service at Sherburn City Cemetery in Sherburn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Lakeview Funeral Home. Goldie passed away Friday morning, November 13, 2020, at the Cox Medical Center in Springfield, MO. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements. The family asks that people are mindful of social distancing guidelines, wearing masks and best practices in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The number of people allowed will be monitored. Goldie Pope Lohse was born January 10, 1930 to Reverend Wesley Pope and Mary Brethorst Pope in Washington, MO. Her eternal life in heaven began November 13, 2020. Rev. Pope pastored congregations in Missouri and Minnesota. Goldie said God blessed her with friends wherever she went. She gave her heart to Jesus at an early age. Throughout her life she served others. She and her sister and brothers sang and played instruments for church services. The joy of music continued throughout her life. She was united in marriage to James Lohse in 1949. They farmed in the Fairmont area for many years while both had second jobs. She worked at Stokley Van Camp in the HR department and Montgomery Wards as a office manager until they closed the stores. She also worked as a office manager for the government construction of housing and Rosens diversified. James and Goldie had four children Vicki, Charles, Pamela, and James, Jr. Her parents chose the perfect name for her. She was full of love, compassion, and wisdom. She enjoyed visits from friends and family. Visits included food, fellowship, and playing cards or board games. She had the gift of hospitality, making everyone feel special. She saw beauty in the world around her. Those left to cherish her memory include children Vicki Vogt (Bob), Charles Lohse (Mary), Pamela Gibbs and James, Jr. (Shanda). Seven grandchildren Bob (Chris,) Vogt, Jamie (Kris) Berquist, Tonya (Shawn) Walker, Mark (Sara) Lohse, Megan Lohse, Natalie (Jarad) Lindstrom, and Ella Lohse. Great grandchildren include Garrett, Zoee, Myah, Kaylah, Kristian, Ava and Ruby. Brothers Paul Pope and David (Vanette)Pope and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Irene and Mildred, brother Edward and son in law Clyde.
