About the Book:The world recently celebrated a pair of German academics and authors who collected and published folklore during the 1800's. The brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, are better known to the world as the Brothers Grimm. In May of 2014, two hundred years after these famous brothers published their collected works, a group of thirteen Utah Valley University Art and Visual Communication students—five illustrators, four photographers, two graphic designers, and two painters—along with Arts and Visual Communication faculty member Howard Fullmer, followed the brothers along the Deutsche Marchen Stra or, the German Fairy Tale Road. The students immersed themselves in grim tales for nearly two weeks as they photographed, illustrated, and learned about the unique tales and locations of this famous area. Starting at Hanau, the birthplace of the Brothers Grimm, the experience led to wandering the forests near Kassel, following brass rats in Hameln, and wishing at the feet of the Bremen Town Musicians. This book was researched, designed, photographed and illustrated by those Art and Visual Communication students. Through logistical, financial, and personal challenges, they collaborated to publish this collection of tales. What you hold in your hand is the result of that journey. Copyright © 2018-2024 TDM Inc.
