I've had this book for decades, and it was well-cared for, stored away virtually undisturbed in all that time. Before offering it for sale, I carefully took the time to eyeball each page to make sure there was nothing obvious hiding in there that might otherwise be missed. Here is the generally-accepted description of a FN comic book (as you can find on multiple online grading websites): FINE (FN): An above-average copy that shows minor wear but is still relatively flat and clean with no significant creasing or other serious defects. Some accumulation of minor bindery/printing defects is allowed. Minor cover wear apparent, with minor to moderate creases. Inks show a significant reduction in reflectivity. Blunted corners are more common, as is minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing. Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present. A minor spine roll is allowed. There can also be a 1/4" spine split or severe color break. Staples may show minor discoloration. Minor staple tears and a few slight stress lines may be present, as well as minor rust migration. Paper is tan to brown and fairly supple with no signs of brittleness. Minor interior tears at the margin may be present. Centerfold may be loose. (I include this description so you can refer to it while following along with my observations below.) Surfaceabsolutely flat, still with a good amount of shine and quite smooth to the touch.Edge Wearthat all-black background makes wear easy to spot, and you can see it's minimal on top, with a bit more on the bottomOverall Wearit's clear this book was slid in and out of a stack multiple times, as if you hold the book up to the light, you can see wear on the surface, the kind you'd expect if it was sliding against other copies before it got properly stored. You can see this in various photos. This all falls into the "minor staining, soiling, discoloration, and/or foxing" category, though I thought it was a bit more than intended in the description above (the main reason I didn't give it a full FN grade).Folds/Creasesonly the small fold remnant at the bottom right corner (easily visible in photos)Wrinklingminimal -- it's held up well and is mostly smooth!Cornersminor bluntingPrinting DefectsnoneArrival StampsnoneSpineshows the minor color breaks/spine ticks (many visible in photos) you'd expect after a couple of readings; still flat and tightSpine Rollabsolutely noneTears/SplitsnoneStaplesonly minor discoloration, but not rusty -- both look good and go all the way through to the centerfold.Back coverno longer white after over half-a-century; just as smooth as front though.SmudgesI don't see many smudges, but I already noted the visible "slide" abrasionsSurface build-upyou can see the back has a light coating; only a stray foxing speck here or there.Inner coversmostly white and clean; couple of light smudges at bottom left of front inner cover.Page coloreasily still off-white; far better than what is allowed above at the FN levelPage conditionexcellent with no sign of brittleness; everything nicely attached -- in great shape hereBOTTOM LINEThe surface abrasions and the bit of build-up on the back prevent this copy from elevating past the FN level. I suspect most would mark it FN anyway, and the description above certainly seems to support it, as this copy meets or exceeds most of the critieria laid out. I still chose to go slightly below FN, which I believe is quite fair. Regardless of how you quibble with the final landing point, this is a solid mid-grade-ish copy that won't disappoint, and you'll be hard-pressed to find one at this grade that is this smooth to the touch. Do your research and find the other copies listed out there that claim that they're around this condition, and you'll often find copies that are clearly more worn or wrinkled than this one, or they give you two pictures only and don't even take the time to describe the book, so you're left with no idea of what you're getting, so how on earth would you even know? See what they're asking, and you'll find that this copy is competitively priced. Where do you get more details or camera angles than what I've provided? ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE!
