The Telecaster Thinline debuted in July 1968 with a semi-hollow design to reduce the weight of the heavy ash wood. The second-generation Thinline model, which was equipped with a Woodie Range humbucker and changed to a distinctive curved pearloid pickguard at the end of 1971, began mass production in 1972. The biggest feature of this model is that it is Fender's first Telecaster with a 6-string humbucker and the first adjustable 6-saddle bridge. The American Vintage II 1972 Telecaster Thinline beautifully reproduces the tone and feel that is the essence of the original model produced at the time. The American Vintage II 1972 Telecaster Thinline features a 1972 “C”-shaped maple neck, and a 7.25”-radius fingerboard with 21 vintage tall frets, giving you the feel of a real 1972 instrument. To create a full-fledged wide-range humbucker, we revived the CuNiFe magnet, which had not been produced since 1981, as an essential element to reproduce the original sound. Other features include a convenient Bullet-style truss rod nut located on the headstock, a three-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt, F logo tuners, and a six-saddle string-through-body hardtail bridge with bent steel saddles. The semi-hollow ash body is available in three color variations: Aged Natural, 3-Color Sunburst, and Lake Placid Blue.
