Description: Description* Massachusetts foundry cast aluminum tying vise pedestal 15.5" × 9.5" × 3" The second heaviest, biggest cast fly tying base available (see my other listing for biggest) This beefy 12lb base will keep your vise put. It will be great as a portable tying station or a mainstay on your tying table. The cast in tool caddy is pre drilled with 3/8 and 1/2" holes for tool storage. Stem collar is cast in and bored to 3/8" which seems the universal vise stem diameter. This fits US made vises, let me know if you have a stonfo or Jvise or unusual vise stem so I can accommodate. With a locking knob included. Divided storage trays for material orginization with four to six magnetic smaller compartments for hooks and beads. Four rubber feet. Cast aluminum,while remarkably strong and stable, is softer than steel and will not dull hooks or fine edges tools. It will also never rust. A bit on the making process, these are cast in green sand (recycled) kind of like making a sand castle at the beach. A mold is made with negative of the pedestal, 1400degree molten aluminum is poured into the cavity. After solidification casting is cleaned, cut, ground/polished, drilled, tapped, painted and assembled. Available for lefties too Some will have a mayfly emblem some a salmon fly(see pics).
