Limited, Memorial Edition. 1250 numbered copies were printed, this is #764. Sm4to. Vol I: xiv, 303pp. Vol II: ix, 308pp. Both volumes have 12 full-page illustrations including frontispiece and 16 small illustrated tail-pieces. Tissue-guards have red-lettered descriptions. Half red leather with marbled boards. Paneled spines with gilt-stamped lettering/numbering in two panels and gilt-stamped presidential symbol in the other four. Upper edges are gilt. Boards are sunned and with several stains. Outer edges covered by the marbled paper are rubbed through. Additional rub-throughs at fore-edge corners of Vol I and lower edge of back panel adjacent to spine (approx. 1") on Vol II. Spine folds are scuffed. External side and lower page edges are age- and soil-darkened. Upper and lower edges at head and tail of board spine of Vol I are softened; front corner at head of spine has a 3/8" crack and tail of spine has small loss on the corners. Head of spine on Vol II has 1/4" loss across the width, tail has 1/8" loss and a 3/8" crack on the back corners and tail band is partially loose. Text pages are age-toned else internally clean.
