Description: This #2190 solid steel cleaver is in beautiful shape for its time! The handle is original with brass pins and hickory wood. The cleaver is quite sharp and has very minimal age or imperfections. The makers marks are bold and easily legible. Please see photos for close detail & dimensions. There is wear and signs of use as to be expected. Foster bros was a cutlery factory in New York that closed in 1958. i believe that this cleaver is one of 300,000+ cleavers that foster made for the military in WW2 as this is mentioned online for the 2190 marking. It’s said that this 2190 was made of an obsolete steel that would be 0.90%carbon and 1.5%nickel. Offers & inquiries are always welcome! Rest assured that all items will be shipped with proper materials such as styrofoam, bubble wrap, and/or packing peanuts for safe and secure delivery. Please also expect reused packaging such as Walmart, Target, Amazon, and/or Chewy boxes as I try to reuse and recycle as frequently as possible for minimal waste. ♻️
