French antique Nude Oil Painting on Paris Canvas signed in original frame 1903

Description: This is a superb nude study - French, signed on a Paris canvas & dated 1903 & in the original frame, we absolutely adore her for so many reasons- She has a classical beauty & presence about her. As her eyes glance upwards - where are her thoughts? The staging reminds me so much of Felix Edouard Vallottons' nudes, painted around a similar time- The use of shadow and light and the faintest suggestion of cubism in the style of the painting (hands & feet) which was an avant-garde emerging movement at the turn of the 20th century when this was painted. Signed in the lower right and dated , she is painted in oils on a stretched canvas - which is absolutely true to the date painted -Schwartz. Paris. This stamp on this frame was only sold in the Paris shop between 1897-1907(ref.guide-labreuche)- This painting is dated 1903. The frame also has some elaborate script running alongside the stamp - which sadly is illegible.The gilded wood Frame is, we believe original to the painting- although at some time it has possibly been repainted.The painting is exactly as found we have not attempted any cleaning of the painting or frame. The painting is varnished which is typical of that period - this has possibly offered protection to the painting.*Overall size 24.25" x 16.25" or 62cms x 42cms*Size of canvas 20.25" x 12.25" or 51.5cms x 31.5cms*Country of origin France*Signed -Yes & dated "Garr....." 1903*Condition - The painting has a few faint short veins and some areas where the varnish and paint shows slight wear - but overall the painting is judged to be in good condition for the age. The frame is of wood construction gilded- it shows shadow markings running from the inner edge to the outer, but these do not detract. There is a very faint impression mark on the canvas from the upright wood stretcher of the frame- only visible in certain light-mentioned for complete accuracy (possibly caused by storage pressure)SHIPPING: Free global shipping is included with this painting.
