The anonymous artist was most interested in the geometric play of light and shadow on the mill façade, and on the water, while the forms of the vegetation are only suggested. Perhaps this interesting piece is a workup for a larger painting. Dimensions are about 9 inches by 13.5 inches. A small rip, bottom left, was repaired a long time ago, and is barely noticeable.
