Description: Get M1 For The Road™Here at 'Get M1 For The Road', we're big fans of ALL things M1 helmet related! Lately we've found ourselves with too many M1 items and not enough free space, so it's time to thin the herd a bit. Our loss is your gain! Up for grabs - right here, right now, right away - is a French M51/Modele 51 helmet (which is based on the iconic American M1). The shell is from 1955 and it comes with a '56 liner. Further details are listed below:Intelligence Brief: This helmet is complete, but it's been around the block a few times. I've had the liner (hardhat) and shell (lid) for a while, but I'm trying to trim the fat a little. They're in good shape and there's nothing torn or broken off (like the webbing, rim, or loops/bails). On top of that, I'm including a helmet net and band for FREE. I'm not sure which country the net come from, but I bought it with some U.S. Army stuff and it's NOT from our military. It does look good on THIS helmet, however. The band looks to be handmade - possibly by a soldier. It's not elastic, it just seems to be a piece of canvas that was glued together at the ends. Keep them on the helmet or don't, they're free regardless. This helmet's 'been there', so please look carefully at all of the photos before you even THINK about buying - I don't do refunds. Without further ado, here are all of the details:----OPERATIONAL SPECIFICS---- Liner SitRep: This one is a BLUE plastic version of the '51' model and is in pretty good overall condition. There's a stamp in the crown which reads "1956 MPMP MARSEILLE N" (I think). This liner fits perfectly into the shell but from the military, it's from the Mobile Gendarmerie (again... I think). It's in pretty good shape aside from one repair: In the last few pics, you can see where a headband clip either broke or fell off and the soldier (or someone else) tied a piece of string to hold it in place. Aside from that, there's a little rust on a few of the A-washers and the leather is in good shape, but not great. Keep in mind that it's almost 70 years old - we should ALL be so lucky to look as good at that age.Shell SitRep: This one was made by HR (they also made liners, but I can't find out what the letters stand for). It would originally have had sewn or riveted chin straps, but these are clip ones. So... perhaps they aren't French. I'm not an expert on these Euro-clones - sorry, kids. Also, there are some chips to the paint, a few tiny dents, and a tad bit of white paint rub. (You can use the net cover to hide it all or display it nekkid to show off its battle scars.) Also-also, the paint 'grit' is THICK, man - like sandpaper. That makes it hard to move the net around. Don't say I didn't warn ya. This guy's been in the field, no doubt. I can't say for CERTAIN that it saw action in the Algerian War, but it definitely COULD have. FINAL NOTE: I usually have a number of other items listed as well. I WILL put together bundle deals to save you money. Just let me know before buying. Also, I have a few spare (post-WWII) M1 parts, so just ask if you're looking for anything in particular.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Please take a look at the pics and item specifics for any other information you may require.
