Description: This is an antique French faience transfer ware plate printed in black on a deep yellow ground, 8.5" in diameter. The back is impressed with marks for Montereau and dates to about the 1830's, almost 200 years ago. The scene is titled in French "The Correction". It depicts two men with two hunting dogs in the countryside. The border is a series of overlapping hunting horns and leaves. There are no chips or cracks, quite amazing for the age of almost 200 years. There are a couple of light abrasions in the glaze on the rim and many use scratches on the top and bottom which do not show up well in photos. The tin glaze of antique faience normally exhibits these scratches and abrasions. Please ask any questions before purchase. 3982
