Fretless Mountain Banjo, Grover Gear tuners

Description: Finished building this beauty on October 31, 2024. Cherry body, tiger oak neck, Grover tuners. Beautiful old timey sound with the super nylgut strings. It measures 36” overall length, 11” width, 2 3/4” side height and I got the bridge 24 1/2” from the nut in the photos. The 5th peg sits in a hole that was reamed with the stew Mac 5th peg reamer.l so it’s a proper fit that you can tap out if necessary. It blows my mind that people making $2000 banjos will drill a straight hole and epoxy the peg in. I will be listing one more with Grover tuners but it’s more fancy with a flush fret fretboard and after that I probably won’t be using any more gear tuners. If you got problems with your hands and can’t twist on the ebony pegs or enjoy the convenience of gear tuners then this is the banjo for you. I will include a set of guidelines that explains more about these banjos and more about myself etc. make someone or yourself a thanksgiving or Christmas gift that will become a family heirloom. I will ship this in a nice double layer cardboard box that I custom make special for these banjos and use two different types of bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts along with a couple different types of tape and that all adds up and expensive but its the best guarantee I can offer you that your instrument will arrive undamaged so I have to factor that in my overall price because the shipping rates here only charge for what it cost to send not my materials and the 3 hours it takes me to pack this and fuel expenses driving half hour to 45 mins to the post office is time I donate for free but necessary. I build these just like Stanley Hicks in the foxfire book and in his honor for all the work he did to keep our Appalachian mountain folk traditions living and when you buy one of these you become a part of that tradition too.
