Description: Tower books felt is story needed another go around and reprinted it in 1942. This novel is not politically correct it is as gritty as men can be when living day to day speaking with other men away from the house. It is a historical immersion of sociological study as any novel could be. Language rich with vitality of a harsh life the real life. This novel gained attention form the Journal of Sociology. However this doesn’t make Gas-House McGinty a cheap sensational read nor did the author intend it to be. The author goes gutteral with expressions that are ugly and obscene and interestingly of the period. (1930’s) This book is a peak into the rougher side of life spoken through unfiltered men unrestrained and speak freely. (And I thought I could say grotesque and descriptive phrases…learned a few more) Interesting and a different kind of vintage book to have on the shelf and very affordable opposed to the 1933 edition hardcover with dust jacket. Book is in very good condition. Clean inside and out. Shows minor shelf wear at the edges and spine. Binding is still robust without any loose or missing pages all 364 plus pages securely in place. Spine is straight without even a hint of a lean. Dust jacket is original and has done its job protecting this copy, however, it has taken some battle damage with goodly sized chunk missing from the front bottom panel. Review photos. We have placed the jacket years ago in a new archival wrapper and ended its dégradation. Not ex-lib. Not remaindered. All of our books ship inside cardboard and packaged to endure our USPS.
