We've made and sold probably a few thousand of these nuts over the years. The SONIC BARRIER CONCEPT: It's been theorized in the guitar world that each individual string would play with a purer tone if each string had a separate nut. If you keep the sonic energy of the E from interfering with the sonic energy of the A right next door, then each string will simply sound better. Our between-the-slots sawcuts accomplish this effect. And within the confines of a single nut body. A groundbreaking design at a great price. That works! COMPENSATION: Guitar intonation is an often overlooked procedure which, when done properly, ensures that each string properly tuned. This means that your guitar sounds great regardless of whether you're playing open or fretted chords. For various reasons, many guitars still sound lousy even after the intonation is set. We've found that a properly compensated nut will correct this. As our fix, we v-slot just ahead of the 3 treble string slots. Those three strings are usually the trouble-makers. The v-slots give you just enough extra scale length to help you achieve the intonation that you need.
