Description: Dave Malarcher 1974 Laughlin Old Time Black Stars #20 PSA EX-MT 6 - Under-graded A smart, smooth-fielding 3rd baseman, 'Gentleman Dave' was a fixture on the Chicago American Giants team which dominated the Negro NL in the early 20's. In 1926 he succeeded Rube Foster as manager and was one of the game's top strategists. A speedy switch hitter, the Louisiana native was usually around .300 and dangerous in the clutch. Malarcher began with the Indianapolis ABCs in 1916 and after wartime services joined the Detroit Stars. Then he went to the American Giants until 1935.
