Description: Outside of frame measures 7 3/4" x 9 3/4". Porcelain plaque measures 5" x 7 1/4" x 3/16"-1/4" thick. This German porcelain is made by Saxe and dates from the early 1900's. This is an antique reproduction of a 1675 painting by Bartolom Esteban Murillo titled "Boys eating pie". It is in good condition, there is a bit of aging to the gold rimmed sides. This is a transfer decal on porcelain that is embellished with white paint to bring out details and make it appear handpainted. The frame is something I found for it. It is wood burl veneer with brass grapes around the inside border. When I found this porcelain plaque it was jammed in to a 5" x 7" plastic frame. It was hideous but I think was used for storage purposes and may have kept the tile from breakage. The frame I found was very tight and I wanted it to fit so I used a router and made the opening a little bigger. It worked great but it's not professional. I could easily hide it but I want you to know what you are buying. The exterior of the frame is lovely and goes great with this little baroque period piece. Although the frame is not period to the plaque and the value is in the porcelain plaque not the frame, it works well. Please see all photos and item details for more specifics.
