Description: Germany Three Crown China Master & 6 Berry Bowls Castle Scenes w/Gold 1909-1916 Decorative SET of 6 BERRY BOWLS & MASTER SERVING BOWL, Three Crown China imported by John H. Roth South Bend, Indiana, manufactured by Unger & Schilde Ltd. Roschutz, Thuringia, Germany, Castle Scenes w/wide Turquoise BLUE Wash, GOLD Trim Scalloped & Embossed Rims, circa 1909-1916 DESCRIPTION: The beautiful serving set consisting of 6 individual bowls & 1 large master bowl was decorated using the blue, green and brown color palate with a wide band of turquoise blue wash. The center of each bowl is a castle scene on white porcelain encircled by a gold band. This is surrounded by a band of wash that is darker at the gold band and lightens as it approaches the rim. The rim is trimmed in a narrow gold band. The master bowl & 4 of the smaller bowls have have the same castle scene while the other 2 smaller bowls have 2 different castle scenes, one of which has a large windmill. These coordinate nicely. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is excellent. The smaller bowls exhibit a small amount of stacking wear on the turquoise blue wash. One individual bowl has a slight hairline on the bottom which does not go through to the inside. This is the bowl pictured in photo #6. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or other hairlines. The gold trim is good with only the most minor wear. DIMENSIONS: The individual berry bowls have a diameter of 5 5/16" and a height of 1 1/4". The master serving bowl has a diameter of 9 1/16" and a height of 2 1/2". HISTORY/MARKS: John H. Roth & Co. was established in 1909 in Indiana. Three Crown China is a mark introduced by Unger & Schilde of Roschuetz, Thuringia, Germany. It was specific to items imported and distributed by Jon H. Roth (trademark 'Jonroth') from South Bend, Indiana between 1909 and 1916. These all bear the Three Crown China mark identified as mark #1 used 1909-1916 cited by www.marks4antiques.com. .
