Item Description Gibson L-48 (1967) A vintage archtop full acoustic with a bitter, dead sound. It has a warm and soft feel that is unique to mahogany tops, but the bluesy tone with a muddy atmosphere is cool. The 1967 model features a narrow neck, and it is also attractive that it can be played with the playability similar to playing an electric guitar. The L-48 is a model that was produced in 1946 as a low-cost model following a minor change to the L-50. Early versions had spruce and mahogany tops, but soon only mahogany tops were available. The simple dot position design creates a warm and light sound that creates an atmosphere. The top and sides are mahogany, the back is maple, and the fingerboard is Jacaranda. The pegs are original 2-line Krewson brass posts, and although they are quite rusty and have uneven torque, they work fine. Jacaranda's adjustable bridge is original and works fine both up and down. The pickguard, holder, and tailpiece are all original. The nut is original, and the frets have been adjusted by rubbing against the ori frets. It is in beautiful condition with the original color still intact. There are weather checks all over, and it is in original condition with a burnt and shiny appearance. There is some paint touch-up on the first string side of the neck back, but it does not affect the appearance or playability at all. This is a regular grip neck with a narrow nut width of about 39.5 mm. It is set straight and can be used with adjustable rods. The string height is set at 1.9 mm for the 6th string and 1.3 mm for the 1st string above the 12th fret. Since it is an adjustable bridge, you can adjust the height to your preference. Although it is quite low, I am not particularly concerned about cracks or clogging. Among archtop acoustics, it has a slightly softer tone, warm sound, and a natural reverb feel. It has a withered, dry sound and is very popular as a blues guitar. It has a unique sound, and I think it would be great for slide blues as well. With its muddy sound, it is a great instrument for playing old styles such as blues, ragtime, and the Carter Family Style. Comes with a general purpose hard shell case.
