An expensive tusk design cut in limited quantity exclusive to J.Hoare & Co. Designers & craftsmen of the J.Hoare company were among the best of that time and this pattern one of the most expensive of all then. Heavy early fantastic decanter faceted cut ring neck and repousse sterling stopper. Gorham marks for last quarter Late 19th Century. A beautiful piece. The version of this decanter with theregular faceted stopper is pictured soldin the last picture at Woody's Auction for$1700 plus 20% premium ($2040) and this one is much more rare with a great blank.
