Gospel Chimes, William Beery, rare antique Sunday School song book (1889)

Description: This is a rare original 1889 hardcover printing of "Gospel Chimes," edited by William Beery and published by Brethren's Publishing House for teaching music in Sunday schools. The book contains lessons in musical notation and over 100 songs for developing musical ability and worshipping in Sunday schools and religious meetings. Overall, the copy being offered saw a LOT of use and is in rough, well-worn condition, still quite suitable as a songbook and quite lovely as a decor piece in a Victorian-themed room or display but definitely NOT for any collector who places importance on condition. As you'll see in my first three photos, the covers have substantial wear, with a lot of wrinkles, stains, scuffs, scrapes, tearing of the cloth layer from the spine (and some glue there for reinforcement), and rubbing/fraying along the edges, including fully rounded outer corners. Both covers are loosely attached to the binding and are very stiff at the sites where the covers attach to it. Inside, the binding is a little loose but still reasonably strong. The pages have noticeable edge wear, a lot of brown stains, many wrinkles, some creases and tears, and some instances of marking and writing. Notice in my 4th photo that the first sheet (containing the title page) is completely detached but is still present.
