Description: DATING TO THE EDWARDIAN ERA FASHIONED OF A BLACK COTTON VELVET WITH LACE TRIMMING THE COLLAR AS WELL AS ACROSS THE TOP CENTER PANEL. ATTACHED BELTING CLOSES WITH A SNAP CLOSURE WITH A BLACK JET BUCKLE ATOP. THE SLEEVES HAVE A BOTTOM BELL CUFF THAT IS TRIMMED IN MATCHING LACE. EACH SIDE OF THE SKIRTING HAS A TWISTED GATHERED FOLD DETAIL, HARD TO NOTE IN THE PHOTOS. THE REAR HAS A FALLING TAIL THAT IS TRIMMED IN THICK, LONG BLACK SILK FRINGE. CONDITION: SOLD AS FOUND, REFLECTIVE OF THE CONDITION. THE LACE COLLAR HAS AGE COLOR SEEN ALONG THE INNER EDGE WITH SEVERAL BROKEN HOLES. THE LACE ON THE CENTRAL FRONT PANEL IS HEAVILY AGE COLORED. OXIDATION SPOTS TO THE VELVET ARE SEEN TO THE BELT FROM THE JET BEADING. THE DRESS ORIGINALLY HAD A SILK INNER LINING IN BOTH THE TOP AND IN THE SKIRTING BUT ONLY TRACES NOW REMAIN AROUND THE INNER BELTING. THE FRONT SIDES OF THE SLEEVES ARE LOOSE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO LINING AND I PERSONALLY WOULD TACK THE VELVET DOWN TO THE VELVET ATOP.
