Description: THIS LOT CONTAINS THE 1887, TYPE I, 5p QUEEN VICTORIA FROM GREAT BRITAIN, SCOTT #118a, IN FINE-VERY FINE USED CONDITION. The Queen Victoria issues of Great Britain span the years 1840-1900 and starts with the world's first postage stamp, the famous 'penny black' of 1840. This beginning era of postage stamps is a source of study due to the vast production varieties developed during these 60 years -- differences in paper, watermarks, perforations, plate numbers, and, cancellations. As can be expected, some of the world's most rare and valuable specimens are included in this era. Kindly see the photos, front and back, to view this stamp. This stamp is a Type I variety -- it has squarish dots beside the "d" of 5d, rather than the tiny vertical dashs of the Type II. We magnify using a high-power lens, and identify the stamp on the back "118a" with easily eraseable pencil. It has a #30 watermark (imperial crown), has a partial circular cancellation, is reasonably centered, is free of defects, and, is in fine-very fine used condition.
